Glow was a satisfying end to the Zellie Wells trilogy. As I listened to this trilogy there was just something about it that I liked. Overall I think it is the characters and the author’s writing style for this series. The Zellie Wells trilogy introduces these seemingly normal characters to great challenges and trials, but at the end of the day they all pull through. They make mistakes and get into arguments but at the end of the day they have all formed a team and bounds that cannot be broken.
In Glow our characters face the hardest battle yet. Glow also possesses some of the most serious topic we’ve seen in the trilogy. Elderly abuse, murder, kidnapping, homophobia, and hate crimes are a few of the harder subjects in Glow. Even with these difficult occurrences our characters press on and come out stronger in the end.
My few drawbacks from this book were that a few times it felt like the sexuality part of the story was being pushed too far where it felt more forced than a natural part of the story. There is also a question on the final battle in this book for me. I don’t do spoilers so I won’t mention anymore but I’d be curious to hear if anyone else wonders why the group did what they did.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Zellie’s world and I would be interested to see an after the fact story about where everyone and the Society end up after the events in the Zellie Wells trilogy. Glow was a fine ending to a good series.
