Dancing Blades (Seventeen 0.2) by A.D. Starrling
Source: Gift from author
This has to be one of my favorite short stories to date. We meet Soul as a child in First Death in a beautifully written, heart-breaking story. In Dancing Blades we see Soul as a relatively young man on a quest to learn from one of the greatest swordsman of all time, Musashi Miyamoto. This story is a quick read with an excellent blend of Japanese history, humor, and solid characters. The relationships that develop between Soul, Musashi, and Musashi’s son lead to many moments where I broke out in a grin or a laugh. If you are not reading AD’s books yet, you need to be.
Pity Isn’t an Option (Cozenage #1) by Jessica L. Brooks
Source: Received from author for an honest review
I have very mixed feeling about Pity Isn’t an Option. I liked the premise of the story and the main characters Jonas and Hattie. But overall the story moved too slowly for my pace. It felt as if things just started to happen when the book ended which was a disappointment to me personally. Yet I can see many readers loving this story. It just matters what your tastes are when it comes to pacing. I perfect fast-paced, action stories. This is not that (and that is okay). If you enjoy solid characters, dystopia novels that don’t follow the traditional revolution path, and tales filled with hope in the darkest moments, then you will probably enjoy Pity Isn’t an Option.
Thank you very much for the lovely words Kate. Glad you enjoyed it! 😀
My pleasure AD. I have been loving all the work I’ve read of yours so far. It has been right up my alley. 🙂
Happy February reading!
Thanks Freda! 🙂
I love reading Jennifer L Armentrout “White Hot Kiss” Reviews help me choose where I spend my money and time reading a book.
Melissa really loved White Hot Kiss! I hope you enjoy it too, and I’m pleased our reviews help you pick what books to check out.
I always love all your reviews–good or bad. You shoot straight and hit the target. Thank you for your honesty. I love the books you spotlight for us!
Aw thank you Kimberly! I’m really glad you have been enjoying the reviews. They take the most work but if I can introduce readers to new great books then it is all worth it! What book are you currently enjoying?

I love reading. I’m currently enjoying Prick.
I love reading too. 🙂 I haven’t heard of Prick before. Who is it by?
Prick is a new book released a few days ago by Sabrina Paige.
Thanks for sharing Irma! 🙂
I never read reviews. It`s usually the blurb that convinces me to read a book.
Blurbs are a great way to get a feel for a book. Do you check out reviews of books you have read to see if the reviewer liked the same things about the book you did?
No. I mean I always leave reveiws after I read the book, but I just never read other reviews 🙂 lol
Oh, I meant to you read reviews other people have written on books you have already read. So for example I read Legend by Marie Lu and if I see a review of it on a blog I’ll read it since I want to know if that reader liked it too 🙂

I liked the review on Dancing Blades, but after reading the synopsis for both books, I think I would prefer Pity Isn’t An Option.
Dancing Blades was my favorite read of the month. Pity Isn’t An Option is certainly a good choice though if that type of book is your cup of tea! You’ll have to let me know if you give either book a read. 🙂
