Hello you fine folks! If you have been paying close attention you might have noticed there have been some changes going on here at KateTilton.com. One of these changes is a new #K8Approved badge & mini review feature that will be taking place once a month. Due to time restraints writing full reviews hasn’t been something I have been able to do for each book I read and that has made me sad. So now each book will be getting at least a mini review, yay!
There are two badges that books can be awarded; gold and silver (designed by the talented Mallory Rock). The gold #K8Approved badge is for my MUST read books. These are the ones I adored and love to gush about. The silver #K8Approved badge is for books that are excellent in quality but maybe not in a genre I am super interested in. These are for books I find that are good quality that may be someone else’s cup of tea.
On another small note Melissa’s reviews are now scheduled for every Wednesday. I have a handful of ARCs that I have been reviewing and since most of these come out on Tuesdays I have laid claim to that day for these sporadic long reviews. So kick back and enjoy the first installment of the #K8Approved books and don’t forget to enter this month’s giveaway (and subscribe to the newsletter for your chance to win I Hunt Killers signed by Barry Lyga)!
Innocent Darkness (The Aether Chronicles, #1) by Suzanne Lazear
Source: Gift
I read this book last summer and LOVED IT. Suzanne has a way of writing books that leaves me with a serious book hangover (and I really haven’t felt that before with other authors). This book has some very lovely characters (*ehem* V & James) mixed with some very…romantic moments.
Charmed Vengeance (The Aether Chronicles, #2) by Suzanne Lazear
Source: Gift from the author
Charmed Vengeance was my summer read this year and it was a great transition from book one to book three. This one had less romance which I missed, but it had a lot of great adventure and it has certainly set the stage for the future books in the series.
I, Walter (The Eternity Series #1) by Mike Hartner
Source: Gift from the author
I listened to I, Walter narrated by the author and I have to say I really love the high sea adventure part of I, Walter. This book really felt like something I would love to watch as a movie. If you are a fan of adventure, clean reads, and honorable characters this is a book for you!
Reached (Matched, #3) by Ally Condie
Source: Purchased
Reached was an alright end to the Matched trilogy. After how much love I had for Crossed, Reached just didn’t quite live up to that. Still it was well written and gave a complete ending to the story. If you haven’t read the Matched trilogy I would still highly recommend it.
Skid (Skid #1) by Doug Solter
Source: Gift from the author
Loved, loved, loved this book! Samantha is such a strong character and a bit of a hot head which makes her seem real. She goes for her dreams with everything she has even when she feels like she has no idea what she is doing. Also although I am not a racing fan myself Skid wasn’t so focused on the technical terms and descriptions that it lost my interest but it also didn’t ignore these things. Skid is an excellent read for those who like character driven stories, a little romance, and competition.

Loved the mini reviews! It’s a huge relief to get them out of the way, right? I feel guilty too for all the books I have yet to review u.u One day I’ll catch up!
Kate Tilton says
Aw yay Melissa! I hope these reviews will be helpful for authors & readers :). It was a relief to get a review up so I can help the authors while also having more time for everything else. Keep on working and I’m sure you’ll catch up!

I’m so glad you like the mini reviews Nancy! I hope along with the badges they’ll give readers a good idea on what books are worth checking out. I, Walter was a lovely story! I hope you check it out :). Book two (I, James) is out now too!
